Sonoma County & Beyond

Know where your business actually stands, every month.

I keep the books and hand you back a plain read on what the numbers mean. More than twenty years of doing this work, for owners who would rather be doing their own.

Danielle Stroble, bookkeeping and accounting, Sonoma County

Why hand this off

Bookkeeping is not an expense. It is how you find out what is working.

Books kept badly cost you twice. Once when the information is wrong, and again when you make a decision based on it.

You get your hours back

The evenings spent sorting receipts and second-guessing categories are hours you are not billing, not selling, and not resting. Hand the whole function over and take the time back.

You get a real expert

Software will categorize a transaction. It will not tell you that your margin slipped in March, or catch the error that has been quietly compounding since last year. Complicated problems still need a person who has seen them before.

You get answers, not reports

Every month you get your numbers and a plain read on what they are telling you. What is working, what needs attention, and what I would keep an eye on.

About

Hi, I am Danielle.

You did not start your business because you love spreadsheets. You started it because you are good at something. The bookkeeping came attached whether you wanted it or not.

I am the person who can take that part off your plate.

I have kept books for more than twenty years. I have also built businesses from the ground up and run them for years, and I know the feeling of checking a bank balance before you are ready to.

So I am not going to talk to you like an accountant. I have sat where you are sitting.

Most of my clients are small, owner-operated companies across a range of industries. People who are excellent at their trade and would rather be doing it than reconciling it.

When I am not working, I am usually out soaking up the sun in Sonoma County, or dreaming about traveling somewhere far away to sip coffee and smile at people.

The work

Here is what you get to hand over.

Monthly close, bank and credit card reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, payroll and the filings that come with it, sales tax, reports and insights, and books your CPA can work from at the end of the year without a lot of back and forth.

If you want to understand your books, I will teach you. If you would rather never look at them again, that is a perfectly good answer too.

Books that have gotten away from you are common, and they are fixable. Nothing you show me is going to shock me, and none of it makes you bad at your business. Catch-up and clean-up is its own service, and a good part of what I do.

Our first conversation is on me. We will look at where you stand and I will tell you honestly what it will take.

  • Shops and kitchensDaily volume, inventory that walks, and margins that move week to week.
  • Solo professionalsSimple on paper, until quarterly taxes and a second revenue stream arrive.

Questions

Frequently asked

How do we get started?

Send a note through the form below, or call. We will find thirty minutes to talk about where your business is and what is not working. That conversation is free and there is no pitch attached to it.

If it looks like a fit, you get a written scope and a flat monthly fee before any work begins. If it is not a fit, I will usually know who is and I will point you there.

My books are a long way behind. Is that a problem?

No. It is one of the most common reasons people call me, and it is fixable.

Catch-up and cleanup is its own service. We start from wherever things actually are, get them current, and then keep them that way. Nothing you show me is going to shock me.

How does pricing work?

Flat monthly fees, agreed in writing before anything starts. The tier depends on your transaction volume, how many accounts you have, whether you run payroll, and how much advisory time you want.

Cleanup and project work is quoted separately as a fixed price, once I have looked at the file. I do not bill hourly for ongoing work. Hourly billing punishes you for asking questions, and asking questions is most of the value.

What makes you different from bookkeeping software?

Software is very good at sorting transactions and very bad at knowing when it is wrong. I spend a fair amount of my time cleaning up files where automation made a confident mistake and then repeated it for eleven months.

What you are hiring is judgment. Someone who notices the pattern, asks why, and can tell you what it means for the decision in front of you.

Do we have to meet in person?

Not unless you want to. I work well remotely, so I can support clients anywhere. I am based in Sonoma County and I love working with businesses here, so in-person is easy if you are local.

What do you need from me each month?

Less than you would think. Once we are set up, most of it flows automatically. Typically I will need:

  • Your statements, or a read-only connection to QuickBooks that shows transactions and nothing more
  • Receipts or documentation for anything unusual
  • A quick answer when I ask what something was for

To be clear about that first one: I do not need the ability to move your money. You keep control of your accounts and your online banking login stays yours. I am reading what already happened, not touching what happens next.

That is generally it. The point of hiring me is that this stops being your job.
